Ways to calm down

Allah created us. He has given us an invisible spirit within us. Different things exist between this soul and mind at different times. Sometimes it feels joy, sometimes it feels very narrow and painful, which no one can express in words.

The mind becomes very narrow. Why is the mind worried and disturbed for some unknown reason? Sometimes it feels like a stone is stuck in the chest. Shaytaan also started to give air to this flock in between.

Allama Ibnul Qayyim (RA) has described some of the reasons why people’s hearts, chests are wide and cheerful.

One. Number one is to believe in one God. The knowledge of Allah, the love of Allah, the remembrance of Allah calms the human mind and gives stability. Tawakkul is complete faith in Him, complete surrender of oneself.

Peace prevails in the mind of man according to his faith and surrender. Allah Ta’ala says, ‘Whose bosom Allah has opened for Islam, then he has come to the light given by his Lord (can he be equal to the hard-hearted?) So destruction is for the hard-hearted, who turn away from the remembrance of Allah. They are in clear delusion.
It is mentioned in the hadith that when the light enters the cistern, the cistern widens.

Two. Dwini Ilam
Through knowledge, Allah Ta’ala opens the bosom, widens it. Then the heart becomes wider than the whole world. And foolishness, corruption narrows the heart. The wider and broader the servant’s knowledge, the wider his heart will be. So the possessors of true knowledge are the most open-hearted.

Three. Have a good idea about Allah. Allah Almighty is able to remove all worries and troubles. And he actually removes these. As much as the mind of the servant is mature towards Allah, Allah will make his heart like that. May Allah bless him. On the authority of Abu Huraira (R.A.), Rasulullah (S.A.W.) said, “Allah says, I treat Me according to what My servant thinks of Me.” If he thinks good, it is good, and if he thinks bad, it becomes bad. (Sahih Ibn Hibban, Hadith: 639)

Four. Surrender yourself completely to God. Have full faith in Allah in any work. He owns everything. For this always follow his rules. Allah says, ‘Whoever does good while he is a believer, whether he is male or female, I will certainly make him live a good life and will surely reward them according to their excellent deeds. (Surah: Nahl, verse: 97)

Therefore, a person who always follows the rules of Allah, sometimes he will feel that he is enjoying the eternal happiness of Paradise from this world.

That is why the one who is separated from Allah, Allah narrows his life. Allah Ta’ala has also described that in the Holy Qur’an. It has been said, ‘And whoever turns away from my advice, his life will be very difficult. And on the Day of Resurrection I will blind him. (Surah: Taha, verse: 124)

The world without the remembrance of Allah will become a little hell for him. For this always keep yourself accustomed to any form of dhikr. Its serenity can only be felt by the chanters.

Five. Working for the welfare of people. To benefit people with money and ability according to their ability. Those who constantly benefit people, feel that there is a different kind of serenity in it. In a hadith, Abu Huraira (RA) said, Rasulullah (SAW) said, The examples of the miser and the charitable are like two men wearing two coats of iron.

Then when the benefactor intends to give, his armor expands, even erasing his footprints. But when the miser wishes to give alms it becomes narrow and his hand is stuck to the throat, and each gland is pressed against the other. The narrator said, Then I heard Rasulullah (SAW) say, then he tried to widen it but was unable to do so. (Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 2251)

Six. Valor and bravery. Bravery helps to keep the human heart open. And timidity, cowardice narrows the hearts of people. He does not find peace in his heart. In the world he feels only like animals. But peace of mind, cowards are always deprived of it.

Seven. Avoid unnecessary things. Unnecessary work, talk, discussion-criticism, unnecessary sleep, eating – these things spoil and narrow the human heart. Rather, most of the punishments in the world and the hereafter will be due to this unnecessary act.

Eight. Accepting the company of good people. Listening to them, benefiting from their lives. The company of good people is the cause of Allah’s pleasure. When you approach a good person, you will feel a different kind of flutter in your heart. It is a gift from Allah. Because Satan stays away from the company of good people.

Nine. Regular recitation of the Qur’an. Because recitation of the Qur’an is a light from Allah. Shaytaan cannot enter the chest that contains the Qur’an. On the authority of Ibn Abbas (RA), Rasulullah (SAW) said, “He who has nothing of the Qur’an in his heart is like a deserted house.” (Jamee Tirmidhi, Hadith: 2913)

In another verse, ‘O people! There has come to you from your Lord an admonition, a relief from the disease of the heart, and guidance and mercy for the believers.’ (Surah: Yunus, verse: 57)

The Qur’an is the cure for all diseases, whether it is the disease of the heart or the body. Narrations of hadith and numerous experiences of the community of scholars of the ummah prove that just as the Qur’an is an infallible medicine for the ailments of the soul, it is also a good remedy for the ailments of the body.
