muslim funeral prayer
All praise be to Allah. And salutations and salutations be upon the last Prophet and Messenger Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him. Tales:—
Dear Muslim brothers! When I saw that many people need to know the rules of performing funeral prayers in the correct way, so I wrote this short article. Wishing God’s mercy,
(1). Stand in a queue with the funeral of Muslims, make the intention (firm determination) of the funeral prayer in your heart.
(2). Immediately after the imam, the first takbeer will be Allahu Akbar (Allahu Akbar) “Allah is the Greatest”. At the time of speaking, raise both hands at shoulder level. Then place both hands on the chest and recite ‘Surah Fateha’.
(3). Give the second takbeer after the imam, then recite durood on the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam saying,
Meaning : “O God! Remember (in your nearest high court) Muhammad and his family with honor, as you remembered Ibrahim and his family with honor. Surely You are highly praised and glorified. O Allah! May You bless Muhammad and his family as You blessed Ibrahim and his family. Surely You are highly praised and exalted”.[1]
Besides, you can read any other Darude-Ibrahimi mentioned in the Sunnah.
(4). The imam will give the third takbeer. Then pray for the deceased with sincerity and sincerity. Some of the duas recited by the Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wasallam are given below:
Allah-humma man ahiyitahu minna fa’ahyihi ‘alal-Islam. Waman tawaffaitahu minna fatawaffahu ‘alal iman. Allah-humma la tahrimana azrahu wala tudwillana ba’dahu).
Meaning : “O Allah! Forgive us the living and the dead, the present and the absent, the young and the great, and the male and the female. O Allah! Those of us whom You will keep alive, keep them alive on Islam, and those whom You will cause to die, cause them to die with faith. O Allah! Do not deprive us of its reward (for perseverance in death) and do not lead us astray after it (death).”[2]
Meaning : “O God! Forgive him, have mercy on him, keep him in complete safety, pardon him, honor his hospitality, widen his entrance to the grave. And wash him with water, ice and rock, and cleanse him from sin as you cleanse a white cloth from dirt. And grant him a better house than his house, a better family than his family, and a better pair than his wife/husband. And you admit him to Paradise and protect him from the punishment of the grave [and the punishment of Hell]”[3].
Pronunciation : (Alla-humma ‘Abduka, wabnu amatika, ehtaza ila rahmatika, wa anta ganiyun ‘an ‘aza-bihi, in ka-na muhsinan fazid fi hasana-tihi, wa inka-na musi’an fa taza-waz ‘anhu)
Meaning : “O Allah, the son of a slave and a maidservant of Yours is waiting for Your favor, You are not waiting to punish him. If he is a righteous servant, increase his reward, and if he is a wicked servant, avoid his crime.”[4]
Pronunciation : (Alla-humma inna fulanabna fula-nin fi jimmatiqa, wa habli ziwarika, faqbihi min fitnatil qbari wa aza-bin na-ri, wa anta ahlul wafai wal haqq, fagfir lahu warhamhu, innaka antal gafurur rahim).
Meaning : “O Allah, the son of so-and-so is in your custody, in the safety of your neighborhood; So save him from the trials of the grave and the punishment of hell. And You are the Promised One and the True One. Therefore, you forgive him and have mercy on him. Surely You are Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.”[5]
And if the deceased is a child, then say,
Pronunciation : (Alla-Hummaz’alhu lana Faratwan wa Salafan wa Azran)
Meaning : “O Allah, appoint him for us as a pioneer representative, an advance merit and a reward.”[6]
(5) Give the fourth takbeer immediately after the imam’s takbeer. Raise your hands at every Takbeer, as narrated by Ibn Umar Radiyallahu ‘Anhuma.
And it is permissible to give up to nine takbeers at funeral, but four takbeers are mentioned in most hadiths.
(6) After the Imam return the salam by saying,
Pronunciation : “Assalamu Alaikum Warahmatullah”
Meaning : “May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon you.”
Supplication to Allah, that He may make our deeds exclusively for Him and according to the Sunnah of Rasool Amin.
And all praise is for Allah.
